Tranquil Summer Confusion
i was listening to 'this american life' on npr in the shower today and there was a story on private security firms in iraq- this guy had been knocked out from a mortar and when he woke up the doctor asked him what day it was and he had no idea- then they realized neither did anyone else b/c there was nothing over there to differentiate between the days, no pattern or routine. then i realized i was in the same position!
since i took a year off last year, i worked from march until august. thus, last month i recieved a tax return large enough to keep me company and not require that i immeadiately go back to work, which was not necessarily the best choice on my part, but the lazy and selfish one.
anyway, as i have had no set patern for over a month now, for the past two weeks ive been very confused about the days, and did not realize the actual date until 3 days ago. the limbo! in so doing i forgot my friend botswanas bday and underestimated how long i had to go to the beach. dont worry though, i did successfully catch the ALIAS season finale totally on time.
uhm... thats about the end of my story i guess. lol i like really abrupt endings. the point is: that's just a weird feeling to have. now, i will go and bake some curly seasoned fries.
